Makeup
Women may wish to have makeup applied professionally, Yeah, wouldn't everyone! Those who apply it by yourself, here are some do's and don'ts:
Make-up for photographs should only be slightly heavier than normal. For ladies, a good rule of thumb is to wear your make-up the same way you would to a special evening out. Mascara should be neat and without lumps. Foundation makeup should be blended at the jaw line, so that there is no demarcation between the face and the neck. Use a good coverage base foundation and lots of loose powder to diminish flaws and blemishes, and control the shine.
The only thing to be careful of outdoors is if you wear very dark (black-charcoal Grey) eye shadow, and you put it over a large portion of your eyelid. Outdoors, the natural lighting and a large area of black eye shadow on your eyelid, make your eyes look recessed and your nose appears longer. A good rule of thumb is subtle eyes-vibrant lips...conversely, striking eyes are nicely countered by subtle lip coloring like a beige-y pink.
Men- shave just before the session, unless you are going for the scruffy look. If growing a beard, and it's not fully complete, you might want to wait before taking any picture. Men you also may want to use some facial powder to eliminate any shine from your forehead/face.
